Snac Pac 4 Kids is a volunteer organization with a mission to ensure local elementary school children in need don’t go hungry during the school year.
An individual weekend meal package (Snac Pac) is provided to each eligible student for 34 weekends during the school year. In addition, Snac Pac 4 Kids collects peanut butter to include in the packages just before the long Winter and Spring school breaks. Eligible students are those whose families qualify for the Federal free or reduced cost school meals program. We currently serve students at Alkek and Hill Country Elementary Schools in Bandera ISD.
The original goal of the organization was to reach 250 children per week. During the school year, an average of 312 Snac Pacs are distributed each week, at a cost of $2.85 per bag. That’s over 10,000 meal packages with a value of over $30,000! Our commitment is to use 100% of donations for direct food purchases.
Dedicated volunteers meet one morning each week to assemble and distribute the meal packages. The specific schedule is based on the Bandera ISD Academic Calendar.
