There is always a next step. It starts when you make a first time commitment to Jesus and doesn't end until you are finally with Jesus for Eternity. Some of these steps can take place at the same time.
1) A COMMITMENT TO JESUS
Your first possible step is always a commitment to Christ. This can be done in a couple of ways.
- Confirmation - For older children and teenagers, confirmation marks your affirmation of faith and commitment to the teachings of Jesus. Whether you were baptized as an infant, or you are finding Jesus for the first time as a teenager, confirmation is how a young person makes their own personal decision to follow Jesus. Contact our youth pastor, Michael, to sign up for the next confirmation class.
- Adults can make a first-time commitment to follow Christ at any time. You simply say yes to Jesus! Please contact the pastor if you are ready to say YES to Jesus for the very first time!
2) Get Baptized
A Christian's first command is to be baptized. It is the first thing that Jesus asks after someone decides to follow Him. Baptism is a public declaration of an inner truth. It shows the world that your old self has been buried with Christ, and your new self has risen with Christ. Basically, you are going public with your faith!
If you are a follower of Jesus who has never been baptized, then please contact the pastor to talk about this important decision. (Click here to contact him.)
3) BECOME A CHURCH MEMBER
Churches are imperfect places. They are full of messed up people, but with all of that imperfection, the Bible makes it clear that Jesus wants us in a community or a church. We are not meant to struggle through this journey by ourselves.
Church is a place where you can be encouraged, be prayed for, be given a place to serve, help other people, and be a part of a team.
Connections Class - This is a class that forms at different times throughout the year when there is a large enough group ready to join the church.
Contact the Pastor - Click here to contact the pastor and talk about the decision to join.
4) SERVE
Christians are meant to serve and we have a lot of opportunities for service at Bandera Methodist Church. First of all, check out the ministries section of this website. You will find our Harvest ministry, Stephen Ministry, Snak Pak Ministry, and more. Of course, we always need volunteers for our children's ministry and student ministry as well.
Then, think about serving on Sunday mornings in our music ministry, our hospitality ministry, or simply by walking around and encouraging and loving other people.
If you have any questions of where you can serve, please contact the pastor. The possibilities are endless.
5) LEAD
Finally, as you become more involved in the different areas of the church, you will find yourself in situations where you can lead other people.
You could lead on one of our many leadership committees, or on one of our ministry teams, or you could start leading a small group of your own.
Those are just a few of the many possibilities. There are no limits to where God could put you!
Contact the pastor if you are ready for this final step. Become a leader in Christ's church!
