At Bandera Methodist Church, our mission is three-fold, we strive to "Know God, Discover Purpose, and Make a Difference."
We believe these are the most important things on earth. In fact, when you get to eternity, it will be all that really mattered. Therefore, our job is to equip you, to give you a platform, and to encourage you to do these three things.
Independent Methodist
We are an independent Methodist church that is proud of our Methodist background and heritage.
But first and foremost, we consider ourselves Christians. Therefore, Baptists, Presbyterians, Lutherans, and people from other faith traditions are welcome to be a part of our church and many feel perfectly at home with us.
We refuse to let the grey areas of theology keep us separated from each other.
It is perfectly fine if you have a different belief when it comes to pre-destination, Baptism, or another theological gray area. As long as you agree that Jesus died for our sins, that he rose from the dead, and that He is the one who makes us right with God, then we will get along just fine!
Our Little Quirks
We are imperfect people - Yes, church is full of hypocrites. . .and there is always room for one more! None of us are perfect. We are all messed up people trying to look more like Jesus. You are welcome here regardless of your imperfections!
We don't believe in routines - Yes, you will see a lot of the same worship concepts from week to week, but we aren't scared to change things up from time to time because church should never become routine. For example, one Sunday, the sermon might start right at the beginning of the service. . .You just never know.
Church should be fun - We don't believe that church should ever be boring. At our church, it is ok to talk back to the preacher every now and then, to laugh out loud at some bad jokes, to get emotional, or many other things. If you are bored in worship, then we failed at doing our job. We serve an exciting God so worship should be exciting as well!
